Femke Bol is a Dutch track and field athlete, who specializes in the 400 meters hurdles and 400 meters. She is the 2020 Tokyo Olympics bronze medalist in the 400m hurdles with the European record of 52.03 seconds.
Femke Bol was born on February 23, 2000, in Amersfoort, Netherlands. She showed her sprint talent already from a young age, winning Dutch competitions in her age category. She won nine national youth titles in 2015-19, eight in the 400 meters and one in the 400 m hurdles, setting Dutch youth records in both events.
Femke Bol won the 400m hurdles title at the 2019 European Junior Championships. At the 2019 World Athletics Championships in Doha, she reached the semi-finals of the 400m hurdles and set a new European junior record of 55.32 seconds. She also reached the final of the 4×400 m relay, in which she finished in 7th place.
In July 2020, in Arnhem, Femke Bol set a new Dutch record. She won the 400m hurdles at the Bauhaus-Galan 2020, the second stage of the 2020 Diamond League.
On January 30, 2021, for her winter return to Vienna, she beats the old national indoor record of 400m. Femke Bol further improved the national record in the women’s indoor 400 meters at the national indoor championships in Apeldoorn on February 21.
In July 2021 in Stockholm, Femke Bol won the 400m hurdles in 52.37 seconds, setting a new national record for the discipline. She becomes the 4th best performer of all time.
