Emma Oosterwegel is a Dutch track and field athlete who specializes in the heptathlon. She won a bronze medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics and as of August 26, 2021, is the world’s No 6 in the discipline.
Emma Oosterwegel was born on June 29, 1998, in Deventer, Netherlands. She took up athletics at age seven, while earlier was playing hockey.
Emma Oosterwegel took part in several high-ranked events since 2018. Her first remarkable achievement was finishing seventh in the heptathlon at the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, with 6,250 points. She improved her score in 2021 when she finished seventh again in Gotzis, Austria, with a score of 6,308 points.
Emma Oosterwegel made her real breakthrough at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, winning the bronze medal in the heptathlon with 6,590 points. Her best performance was at Javelin Throw and Long Jump, as well as 800 meters.
